I surmise there is an increase in incivility and obsession for celebrity because there is a decrease in intimacy, in having the time to really develop deeply meaningful layered relationships, for so many of us in a fast-paced, isolating social atmosphere.

I have seen "The Fisher King" and loved it. It's a beautiful story. I've not seen "Map of the Human Heart" but just watched a YouTube clip of it and it looks interesting. I'd like to watch it.

I never really read Rilke, though people whose writing I admire often say they have. I remember enjoying V and The Crying of Lot 49 many years ago. Jazz list way too long.
